OK, rest day today. The pool is closed for chemical treatment and I slept in because the All Star baseball game ran until well after midnight. And I also thought that I didn't want any risk of injury given the fact that my May trip to Italy to bike was canceled the week before with a pulled hamstring.
The excitement and tension is building day by day as we get closer to starting this thing (this despite the fact that on the second day last year, with my leg hurting and riding into the wind I kept saying that if my wife were to show up with a car and an offer to take me home I might have taken it). But my leg injury miraculously disappeared and I finished the day well and had my best day ever the third day, averaging over 17 mph for 75 miles. (Drafting a group all the way!)
